Everything You're Wondering
questions, answered.
Let's Answer All The Things
From booking and what to wear, to where we'll shoot and when you'll see your photographs — it's all here. Tap any question to read the answer.
Booking & Sessions
I'm based in Billingshurst, West Sussex, with a warm boho home studio here for newborn, maternity and milestone sessions. For outdoor family sessions, I shoot across West and East Sussex — including the South Downs, Ashdown Forest, St Leonard's Forest and the coast. Travel up to 15 miles from Billingshurst is included in every package.
As early as you can — especially for newborns! I recommend booking your newborn session before baby arrives, as the loveliest window is those first couple of weeks and dates fill quickly. For family and maternity sessions, I'd suggest six to eight weeks ahead to secure your preferred date, though do always ask if you're hoping for something sooner.
A £50 non-refundable retainer and a signed contract secures your session. The remaining balance is simply due one week before we shoot. I accept bank transfer and card, and payment plans are available for gallery upgrades — just ask.
Outdoor sessions take place at golden hour — that magical hour just before sunset when the light turns soft and warm. This shifts through the year, so I'll let you know your ideal time when we confirm. Studio sessions are more flexible and can be scheduled throughout the day.
Absolutely — grandparents, cousins, the whole beautiful tribe are welcome. Family sessions include up to five people, with each additional person at £25. Just let me know your numbers when you enquire so I can plan it beautifully.
On The Day
Once you're booked, I'll send you my full styling guide with outfit inspiration, colour palettes and tips for coordinating your family. The general rule: avoid matching, and choose warm, earthy tones that complement each other, with no big logos or busy patterns. You're also welcome to borrow from my client wardrobe — and you can WhatsApp me photos any time for my honest opinion.
British weather! I'll keep an eye on the forecast, and we'll only move the date if the weather is going to genuinely spoil things — a soft, overcast sky is actually beautiful for photographs. If we do need to reschedule for weather, there's no additional cost.
Especially for you. So many of the parents I photograph say exactly this, then are amazed by their gallery. There's no stiff posing and no pressure — just gentle guidance, real connection and warm light. You don't need to be photogenic; you just need to show up and be with your people.
That's completely normal, and honestly, it's never a problem. My sessions are led by your little ones — they don't need to sit still and smile at the camera (I'd much rather they didn't!). We let them play, explore and snuggle, and the best images almost always come from those real, in-between moments. I photograph children every day in my other job as a paediatric audiologist, so wriggles and wobbles don't faze me one bit.
Dads, I see you! Not everyone loves the camera, and that's okay. I'll have a chat, crack a few (terrible) jokes, and keep it relaxed and fun — a chance for cuddles and play, not stiff posing. It really does become an enjoyable evening for everyone.
After Your Session
Your private online gallery will be ready within two to four weeks of your session. Each image is hand-finished in my warm, sunset-toned signature style — and your gallery stays active for three months for downloading.
It varies from family to family, but usually more than thirty to forty photographs — a carefully curated collection that tells the story of your session, rather than quantity for its own sake. You'll receive a mix, with the majority in colour and some beautiful black and white too.
Your images arrive in a private, password-protected online gallery (with a small watermark). You then choose your five favourite digital images, which I include as standard. If you'd love them all, you can upgrade to the full digital gallery.
Yes! Once you've seen your gallery, you can add additional digital images, fine-art prints in a luxury wooden box, or a beautiful handcrafted lay-flat photo album. I truly believe your images deserve to live on your walls and in your hands, not just on a hard drive.
There is — returning clients receive a 10% loyalty discount as a thank you. These memories are made to be revisited year after year.
Studio, Home & Outdoors
Lovely — especially for newborns. All we need is some nice natural window light; there are no bulky backdrops or lighting rigs, just my camera and a few soft wraps and blankets. It's cosy, relaxed and wonderful for those very early weeks.
Yes — if the timing and weather are right, we can do a gentle outdoor newborn session at golden hour, as well as (or instead of) the studio or your home. We'll talk through what's best for your family when you enquire.
My home studio in Billingshurst is a warm, boho, private space — earthy tones, soft textures and dried flowers, with lovely natural light. It's completely weatherproof and perfect for newborn, maternity, milestone and cake smash sessions, with everything provided.
Travel within 15 miles of Billingshurst is included in every package; beyond that, a small travel fee applies (45p per mile). If you have a particularly special location in mind, do mention it when you enquire and we'll talk through what works best.
Yes please! A well-behaved dog is welcome, and props are lovely too — a favourite blanket, a guitar, a handful of wildflowers. Just let me know in advance so we can plan them in.
